About me
Karlyn has been studying and practicing Esalen Massage for 10 years. She is inspired by the creativity this modality affords by incorporating a range of modalities such as Craniosacral work and the Trager Approach. She sees massage as an art, the ability to paint with a live medium and dance at the same time.
She is interested in getting to know you. Karlyn believes the body carries with it our stories and experiences of life. Through being present with herself while being present with you on the table, she is attending to the person as a whole being. Karlyn is honored to bring this work to the North Bay at her office in downtown Petaluma.
“Until Mind and body are commonly experienced and understood as what they really are - one rich, unified organization, functioning as a complex unity - people will continue to be to one degree or another self-alienated.” - Charlotte Selver
My services
There is a common belief I often hear as a massage therapist - more pressure equals more value…the massage has to “hurt” in order to “work.” There are certainly massage therapists who can do this kind of work and it has its place. However, from what I have found, there is another way. Through building rapport with your body via a present centered touch, the tissues start to open of their own accord. Often times, the site of pain is not where the body needs releasing, but rather another area that is over-working or has a snag and that is pulling on the area that is in pain. As a massage therapist, I am listening to and discovering all of these subtleties and pathways over the course of working together.
